FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
Why do I need a nutrition coach?Well, you're here for a reason, right? Have you struggled in the past to make lasting changes on your own? Perhaps you need a little more 1:1 accountability. Sure, you can keep trying to succeed on your own, and you might, but before you go, ask yourself how you feel in the gym. How is your daily stress? How well are you sleeping? How is your relationship with food? Answer honestly. The answers to those questions are all pieces to the puzzle that I work on with my clients. Ultimately I help guide you towards a balanced approach to eating, and empower you to take what you learn and eventually implement it on your own.

How often will I communicate with my nutrition coach?I know that my clients do best when they have support. The amount of communication is up to you and how much accountability you prefer. There are several choices of 1:1 nutrition coaching packages that have various levels of accountability. All of my clients are able to book one 30-60 minute phone call with me per month (see package details for options for more frequent calls). Hearing a voice can be more helpful to explain things that you might have questions about. I also connect with clients through the client portal with feedback to progress and check-ins.

Will I have to count calories?Short answer: no. Long answer: it's not often that I talk about calories with clients. I want to help remove stress, not add to it. Counting calories is hard (and a lot of times inaccurate). While calorie-counting may be effective for some, I like to use a more simplistic method to allow you to reach your goals. You won't have to track calories, but depending on your experience and what your goals are, we may decide that tracking your macronutrients (proteins, carbohydrates and fats) may be helpful. Even if you're a beginner, I'll teach you some easy ways to make this less daunting!
-
Will my nutrition coach cater to my specific dietary preferences?Absolutely! I know that not everyone is going to eat the same foods, or have the same preferences. I will teach you how to incorporate a healthy, balanced lifestyle no matter what your dietary preferences are.
-
Is it true that if I want to lose weight I should eat less carbs? This is such a hot question because of how many low-carb diets circle around on social media. Here's the thing; it depends. A lot of times people need to incorporate more complex carbohydrates into their diet, rather than refined carbs. When we work together we'll talk about your lifestyle, your workout regimen, and what your goals are to determine if you should eat less (or more) carbs.
-
If I have a medical condition, can you still coach me?"I am a certified nutrition coach. I am not a doctor and if something is out of my scope of practice, I will let you know that you'll need to work additionally with a medical professional. I have worked with clients that are on medication for numerous health conditions. However, nutrition coaching does not replace advice from a medical professional.

Do you create specific meal plans for your clients?I do not create lists of what to eat and what to avoid. We will work together in creating meal ideas based on foods that you like, and that make you feel good, inside and out.
